Most Fieldhaven Coven functions take place at a private home. (We have also held a few events at local parks or other locations.) Fieldhaven covenstead includes a large house with indoor space suitable for classes and rituals, a farm-sized kitchen, and a woodburning stove. There is an extensive library of magical, spiritual, and other books, of which the Pagan collection comprises approximately 1,500 titles.
Outdoor space covers 2 1/2 acres including a small parking lot, picnic table, trees, herb gardens, wildflower garden, and prairie garden. There is a ritual meadow surrounded by greenery, with two gates and a brick-edged firepit with a brick pentacle in the bottom.
Fieldhaven House Rules
The following parameters apply to the Fieldhaven covenstead. Other locations may have a somewhat different set; we do our best to inform attendees of expectations in such cases.
This is a "dry" site. We prefer not to keep or use alcoholic beverages here. The presentation of "Cakes and Ale" in our rituals customarily uses nonalcoholic ingredients.
This is "safe and sane" space, for both magical/spiritual work and socializing. We expect everyone to work and play well with others, and to handle any difficulties in a mature manner.
This is not a childproof location, as no children live here and our target audience consists of adults.
The house and the ritual meadow are strictly nonsmoking areas. Smokers may indulge outside those areas, provided they dispose of butts in the burn barrel at the edge of the patio. Smokers and nonsmokers are expected to respect each other's needs and choices.
The menu is customarily omnivorous. People with particular dietary needs (vegetarian, allergies, etc.) should discuss their parameters prior to their first Feast or other dining occasion.
Advance notice is required for coven members wishing to bring guests to any event, unless the guest is already known and welcome here.
The main library is a reading library, not a lending library. Coven members have the privilege of checking out books from a shelf of Pagan titles comprising the coven library.
Invitations and directions to private homes are provided to people we have met face-to-face. For everyone's safety and sanity, first meetings with new people are customarily arranged for neutral public space. We have used a variety of local-to-coven parks, restaurants, coffee houses, etc. for this purpose. If this sounds appealing to you, please read more "About Us" and get in touch.
